To learn more about the vision of our owner, Mr. Sbalbi, let's read what a journalist wrote after an interview with him:
“Just as Mr. Sbalbi fell in love with Scotland, so his customers fall in love with his interiors. Italian trained, he can install the most beautiful kitchens and bathrooms and provide a wide range of services from plumbing to tiling. With his continental eye and suppliers, he can offer a designer look that is out of the ordinary in Scotland.
Mr. Sbalbi can plan the space from scratch or build the essentials from items the client can select from his suppliers’ catalogues. In describing his work, he becomes lyrical – poetic. At heart, he is an artist who is also an experienced and well-trained artisan.
Years ago he discovered Scotland as a place to visit for holidays. He kept coming back. 'It is a most beautiful country,' he said. Finally he moved here in 2004, lock, stock, kitchen and bathroom! For a while, he worked with installation companies in Scotland then launched his own business in 2008.
Now he concentrates on creating interiors of distinction for customers across Glasgow and the West of Scotland in particular.
For new customers, he will visit them in their home to understand what they really, really want. Then he designs something to suit their needs and wishes. 'I try to understand what they are looking for and provide the best possible service and workmanship,' he explained.
With contract customers, he is ready round-the-clock to attend to their plumbing problems. But in his East End workshop, in his own time, he is designing installations which he hopes, eventually, to exhibit. “They are not ready, yet” the artist Mr. Sbalbi, said, hesitantly. But you know by the tone of his voice, he is already committed to them. And in the same way, with the bathrooms and kitchens he installs, he is committed to ensuring his customers love them too.

Has anything changed after so many years?
Yes and no! In what way?
For some years now, SD-Design has expanded his range of services as so many of his customers asked him to take other types of jobs "on board".
Mr. Sbalbi decided to make his clientele happy with the help of his associate tradesmen experts in the various sectors described, instilling in them his same fervour.
Thanks to the commitment and passion both towards his work and towards his clients, SD-Design has been able, and still does extend his vision of work, to other aspects of residential construction as well as all the other various aspects of joinery, outdoor construction works, summerhouses, as well as garage conversions, and partial or complete refurbishment of properties.
So, what has changed? The range of services, being it wider than in the beginning. And what has not changed? Mr. Sbalbi’s passion, vision and commitment to his clients and to his work, not to mention the extra years that must be added to his decades of experience, and the final results of his projects are a tangible proof of that.
